First in the queue?!

Check out this article from the BBC news. Apparently these trainers with wheels underneath is *the* hit of this summer. It's not difficult to see why this is popular with the kids (and even some adults). The thing is, I'm sure these trainers *WERE* the gimmick of the season *several years* ago. I mean, I saw them everywhere a few years ago - outside this country. I almost forgot they've existed until I saw some kids wearing them the other day, and now comes the news article proclaiming them to be the latest fashion!?
What's wrong with this country (and I guess the rest of Europe too), where eveything is months and years behind the rest of the world? I mean, from movies to gadgets, many things seem to be reluctant to make their trip to this part of the world.
